What's news? A front-page news story in the United States might not appear in a newspaper in China. Or a minor story on German television may be all over the airwaves in Dhaka. But News Around the World shows that the underlying nature of news is much the same the world over and that people--no matter what their jobs or their status in society--tend to hold similar notions of newsworthiness. In this richly detailed study of international news, news makers and the audience, the authors have undertaken exhaustive original research within two cities--one major and one peripheral--in each of ten countries: Australia, Chile, China, Germany, Dhaka, Israel, Jordan, Russia, South Africa, and the United States. The nations were selected for study based on a central principle of maximizing variation in geographic locations, economic and political systems, languages, sizes, and cultures. The remarkable scope of the research makes this the most comprehensive analysis of newsworthiness around.

Sweating is your body's natural way of detoxifying. Soaking in hot water can assist in pulling harmful toxins from your skin.[1] Detox baths can also help ease sore muscles. This ancient remedy assists your body in eliminating toxins as well as absorbing helpful minerals and nutrients. If you struggle with toxins or skin issues, or are just looking for a way to boost your overall health, try taking a detox bath in your very own home.
In the previous articles about meditation we didn’t much mention setting the mood because it is not absolutely necessary, especially for the shorter five minute sessions. Or so you’d think. The very thought of meditating (or any spiritual practice in fact) begins preparing the mind and body. Confirming it with actions – a ritual if you like – further readies us. The “ritual” can be as simple as turning your electronics off and arranging your favourite seating for meditation.

This experiment examines the effect of tabloid and standard packaging styles on calm and arousing news stories. Results indicate that the bells and whistles of tabloid production features enhance memory for calm news items but overburden the information processing system when applied to arousing news content.

We will also regularly include a quote from the lead researcher. We try to limit the number of quoted individuals to as few people. This is partly to keep the word count down, but also to keep the messages clear and concise. Quotes are a great way to add a human and emotional voice to a news story. Whereas the style

19th May 2018No matter how much you love your customers and your job, there can be some dull days. Those are the days when you wake up to a rainy morning, miss the train, spill your coffee on your impeccably white button-down shirt, and, on top of it all, have a customer yell at you on the phone because you're out of stock of the product they want.

19th May 2018On those days — which somehow often end up being Mondays and Tuesdays — it can be hard to find the motivation to prioritize customer satisfaction. You're human, and that means that you're allowed to have a bad day, here and there. However, suffering through a moody workday can make eight hours feel like 20.
